I founded my own personal media business and website to increase my exposure and create opportunities to connect with remarkable individuals in my community and beyond. As a junior at Auburn University, I have already seen the impact of this work. After speaking with several ESPN sideline reporters about how I could best prepare for a career in sports broadcasting, I began a podcast during my senior year of high school featuring Division I-bound athletes across a variety of sports.

 

“Tell Me Something Good” began three summers ago as a way to strengthen my interviewing skills, but it quickly became much more than that. Through the podcast, I have met incredible athletes, coaches, and mentors who have encouraged me throughout my career. I continued the podcast last summer by expanding my interviews to athletes and coaches at all levels, including well-known names such as LaDainian Tomlinson and Josh Hoover. I have also traveled across the country to interview numerous Division I athletes, with those interviews available on YouTube.

 

In addition to my podcast, I have created social media accounts, produced hype videos, and photographed games for several of my high school’s athletic teams. I have also been hired by other schools throughout the DFW area to provide similar media services. During my senior year, I was a regular anchor and sideline reporter in my school’s broadcast journalism program. I was also selected by my teacher to serve as Social Media Director on our executive team.

 

These experiences and leadership opportunities have played a major role in shaping my career in journalism. They have allowed me to develop skills in video editing, social media management, photography, interviewing, and broadcasting while gaining hands-on experience in sports media.

 

Now, as a junior at Auburn University majoring in Journalism and Sports Production, I am excited to continue building on everything I have learned. I look forward to seeing how these experiences—and the Lord’s faithfulness—continue to shape my journey and prepare me for a career in sports broadcasting.
